About me:
I began my teaching career at Harper Woods District Schools in Harper Woods, Michigan as a 7th grade social studies teacher. A few years later, i shifted into a 4th grade classroom at Tyrone Elementary School. I have has always worked to incorporate technology into my lessons whenever possible and have been an active member of the district’s technology committee. In 2013 arranged a visit to an Apple Executive Briefing Center in Chicago for the technology committee. After this visit, the team was convinced that Apple products and educational support would help Harper Woods excel as a district. Harper Woods soon became the first 1:1 school district in Wayne County Michigan. I became the Instructional Technology Specialist for Harper Woods Schools in 2013. In this role, I developed and delivered staff training, and work with teachers in the classroom on creative and innovative projects, I also work directly with the IT team on managing devices in the district’s MDM system. I continue to develop the district’s iTunes U public site, organize training and mentor staff in technology. When I have time I present at conferences and in 2016 I was named Lead PBS Digital Innovator for the State of Michigan. In the spring of 2017, I was accept to the Apple Distinguished Educators program. I enjoy connecting with educators from around the world on best practices in using technology in the classroom. |
