Click Here | Monday October 16th the Michigan Ed Tech Specialist Group (METS) hosted its “Fall Rally” it was a great get together of liked minded educators. One of my favorite activities we when we use the ‘Ed Camp” model for breakout session. Using this model participants pick a topic area they wish to discuss or learn about. Each group has facilitator that leads the group in discussions, participation is encouraged. What I like most about this model is the conversation, not a presenter with a thick slide presentation talking to the group. I always enjoy working with and helping the METs, they are a great group of educators. Friday October 20th The Wayne County Instructional Technology leaders group held a training at the Henry Ford. It was a great venue to hold a training. After updates and networking time we kicked off the training with Flipgrid, it was a nice method to get the crowd moving and talking. We then took a tour of the new display at the Henry Ford; “Mathematica” a display in innovation. In the afternoon we did a group activity based off the “Triple E Frame Work” in Liz Klob’s book “Learning First, Technology Second. Using some scenarios from her book we had the group evaluate activities that used technology based off the triple E frame work (Does the activity Engage, Enhance and Extend the learning) This created some great discussion about the use of technology in the classroom. All in all a great day and a great week of learning! |
