One of the first opportunities I explored with the 6th grade classrooms was Clips. I have spent time working with student on clips and I’m amazed how quickly they pick up the app.
After I go over the basics, (holding the iPad in portrait mode, and explain the basic menus.) I like to start first by showing student the live title feature. What I like about this is that if gives instant results, and allows students to edit the text if it wasn’t captured correctly. From there students find the filter button and start changing the look of their video. I say students find the filter, because I only had to point this out to one classroom, the other classrooms just found the filters.
Next I like to show students how to import a picture; we talk about moving the picture around and the zoom features. Then we move on to the labels… this is where the class really moves into self learning. Student enjoyed exploring the many labels and features that Clips has to offer.
From there we explored the editing features and we start adding music. I help teachers with the export and how students can AirDrop or share their video or export and upload to an LMS.
We are now working on projects and using clips as the presentation tool. I like this took because it allows students to quickly and creatively expressive themselves and brings their learning to a new level.
