1. Each classroom selects one person to research and showcase. (or in some cases the person is assigned to the classroom)
2. Students conduct research and develop a script. (They are given a script template to follow)
3. Our SWAT news team records the videos on one iPad
4. I go around to each classroom with that iPad and work with the classrooms to finish editing the videos.
By the end I'm rushing and end up doing most of the editing.
This year I'm trying some changes. Our school now has a building MacBook cart for projects, activities and testing. So this year....
1. 1 and 2 above will still stay the same. (the class will choose and research a person of history)
3. After recording, the video files will be transferred to a MacBook from our new cart, and that MacBook will return to the classroom with the students so the class can edit the final project. (So each classroom will have a device to edit the final project)
4. I'm hoping with the devices used for editing stay with the classrooms the class can work further to develop the video. I would be more of a facilitator of this project. (in theory)
I also developed a video introduction that classes can use. I created it in Motion following this tutorial I found online: How to Make an Animated Image Wall in Motion 5 - YouTube
For the introduction I used picture for each person we are creating a video for. Students can just add the title in iMovie. Here is what the final video looks like that we are using:
We will find out how this new process works!
